Mechanical Aperture

Mechanical Aperture

I completely redid thingverse user sketchpunk's mechanical iris with an eye to being easier to print and assemble as well as ultimately be used as an actual large camera iris. I didn't use any of his files but did use approximately the same dimensions.

It now closes up a little more. It's not as steampunk looking but the aperture blades do some very interesting patterns. You can paint different halves of the smooth side for duotone geometry.

Works with well with countersunk M4 screws or countersunk 8-32 hardware.

If you want to remix it and resize it be careful on scaling the Z dimension. Stuff is worked out pretty tight and simple rounding errors on resize could make things difficult.
