Christopher Polhem revolutionized learning before 1700 with his ingenious mechanical alphabet. The intricately carved wooden models vividly demonstrated the underlying principles of physics and mechanics, making them an invaluable educational resource for students at the Laboratorium mechanicum founded in 1697. Even after Polhem's passing, the collection remained a vital teaching tool, eventually becoming part of the prestigious Swedish Royal Model Chamber. In 1925, this remarkable assemblage of 31 models was carefully transferred to the newly established National Museum of Science and Technology.
