Christopher Polhem pioneered the mechanical alphabet just before 1700, ushering in a new era of physics and mechanics education. His wooden models vividly demonstrated fundamental principles, designed to educate students at Laboratorium mechanicum, founded in 1697. Following his passing, the collection evolved into an enduring didactic tool, ultimately becoming part of the esteemed Swedish Royal Model Chamber. By 1925, the collection's 31 models were transferred to the newly formed National Museum of Science and Technology. TM1259 (TEKS0013205) Created in RealityCapture by Kevin K.
