"Mean As Hell" Dog Helmet
cults3d
This is perfect for Halloween. That looks "Mean As Hell!" is what people will be saying when they see this dog's helmet. The helmet prints easily and assembles quickly, making it a great fit for dogs of all sizes. It is designed to fit comfortably on a dog's head, allowing them to move around freely without any discomfort. Make sure to use the sizing tool to ensure a perfect fit for your dog's head. Sanding, painting, and gluing on accessories are all easy steps that can be completed with ease. Sizing may be challenging if your dog has a very long or short snout, but don't worry - this helmet was designed to accommodate dogs of all shapes and sizes. Bulldogs may experience some issues with the helmet protruding past their nose, but overall, it's a great fit for most breeds. Scaling This helmet is specifically designed for medium-sized breeds of dogs. To ensure the perfect fit, print out the scaling tester files and check if they match your dog's head size. If not, simply adjust the scale in your slicer and reprint. Keep track of the scaling number you used so that you can easily reproduce it when you have the right size. Printing Make sure to scale the helmet accurately using the Scale Tester before printing. PETG is a great material choice, but feel free to use whatever suits your needs best. If you're using ABS, be aware that warping may occur if your printer isn't fully enclosed. The helmet comes in two parts with flat faces, making it easy to print and assemble. If your printer struggles with 45-degree angles, simply add a small fan or slow down the printing speed. Assembly Glue both halves of the helmet together using epoxy for a strong bond. Super Glue will also work, but epoxy is the better choice to prevent the helmet from breaking at the split. Sanding and painting are easy steps that can be completed with 150-grit and 300-grit sandpaper, respectively. Painting Use "Filler Primer" as your base coat and add a thick layer of paint. If desired, sand the primer with 400-grit sandpaper for a glass-like finish. Apply Rustoleum Textured Paint in "Stone" to give it a rough skin look, followed by Gloss Black spray paint. Finally, top it off with Krylon "UV Resistant Clear" spray paint for added protection and shine. Horns/Mohawk You don't have to use the horns or mohawk - they're optional! The printable insert is epoxied (glued) to the helmet first, followed by the horns and mohawk. This ensures a strong bond and prevents any bulging between the horns and the helmet. Dog Vision Cutting your dog's fur around their eyes may be necessary to prevent it from getting pushed down in front of their eyes. Shortening the fur is also an option, but make sure they can still see clearly. Sharing Post pictures and videos of this awesome helmet on social media!
