The LXD 75/55 series has a reputation for fragile gearbox covers that can easily break off. The culprit is usually a loose screw pocket on the plastic cover, which can be fixed with a simple repair process. First, remove all remaining screw pockets using wire cutters or a Dremel tool, then sand the area with 320-grit sandpaper to smooth it out. To replace the broken gearbox covers, print two replacement parts for each gearbox and attach them to the mount using screws. Test fit the cover to ensure a proper fit, adjusting the mounts as needed if necessary - some users have found that rotating the mounts by 180 degrees can help achieve a better fit. Note the screw holes are offset, so this adjustment may be required. Once you're satisfied with the fit, apply super glue to both the new pocket mount and the gearbox cover, then press the gearbox half into place carefully. Make sure the cover doesn't come into contact with the drive gears during this process. After allowing the glue to start setting for a few hours - about 4 hours should be sufficient - you can secure the other half of the gearbox cover in place using screws. To repair the azimuth knob, print the replacement part and press it onto an 8mm x 1.25 socket cap bolt (35mm long). Ensure the hex socket on the bolt aligns with the hexagon inside the knob for a secure fit. If you're printing with ABS plastic, be sure to scale your parts up by 3% to account for shrinkage as the material cools and hardens.
