The cover is engineered to simply push onto the screw-on shade, eliminating the need to remove the original cap every time. To install it, grasp the handle at the top and push it in firmly - it should stay securely in place. However, when packing the scope in a bag or traveling with it, consider screwing on the original cap to prevent any movement that might cause it to come loose. This cover is compatible with other ETX scopes as well as scopes featuring similar designs, provided you scale it according to your scope's specifications. I've only used it with an ETX70 and it was designed specifically for this model.
