Meade ETX-60/70 Fine Fucus Knob

UPDATE So not all Meade ETX-60 and 70's are the same. A user made my knob and found it was too long and the scope would not point straight up without the knob hitting the base, So I added a shorter screw on knob, He tested it and it works on his. The long one worked on mine. _______________ This is my Fine Focuser for the Meade ETX-60 and 70. The stock focus knob is hard to reach and turn. To I made this to extend the knob out the back of the ETX OTA. The design uses the existing knob which is inserted in the base. Make sure when you insert the original knob that the set screw is lined up with the hole in the base so you can access the set screw. Also make sure the set screw is either removed or screwed into the original knob so it's flush. Otherwise the original knob will not go all the way into the base. You may need to use a small rod or screw driver to help you align the lower part of the original knob with the base so the original knob seats all the way down into the base. Then just screw on the top new knob into the base. It's design to capture the original knob so it will not turn in the base easily. You can test this with an allen wrench on the set screw and through the access hole. See if you can rotate the knob back and forth. If you easily can, then make a couple paper circles to put on top of the original knob so that when the new knob is tightened it captures the original knob "firmly". You will always be able to move it with enough force but it should be firm. Tolerances are on the medium side. So if your threads won't work, try scaling the base in ONLY X&Y in your slicer to. Start with say 100.2%. DO not scale Z or you will make your problems worse. On my printer I the threads work but I did have to screw and unscrew the top part a few times so it screwed in smoothly.
