[MDO] Modular Desk Organizer

<p>A modular system that is loosely based on a certain building blocks system that gives you the ability to create a desk setup that will fit your need.</p> <h3>Print instructions</h3><p>All prints are able to be printed at a layer height of 0.3mm or lower. 0.3mm will print the fastest and still looks very good <em>in my opinion</em>. Next to this all models are designed to be printed <strong>without any supports</strong>.</p> <p>Using same layer heights over all prints will give you the best results in regards to connections and visual coherence.</p> <h3>General Settings</h3> <p>Note that these are my settings, you can tweak these to your desire.</p> <ul> <li>Nozzle Size: 0.4mm</li> <li>Layer height: 0.3mm</li> <li>Infill: 5 - 10% (use Grid to limit wobble on X/Y axis)</li> <li>Having your printer calibrated is recommended to have the best printing results, but a slight miscalibration should not cause too big of an issue.</li> </ul> <h3>Bases</h3> <p>There are 2 types of base, <strong>single</strong> and <strong>double</strong>. As the name suggests two single bases will fit exactly in one double base.</p> <h4>Preparing The Model</h4> <p>It is possible to print this model completely without any brims. If you have any lifting/warping on the corners you can add cylinders that is 0.1mm high to act as custom brims.</p> <blockquote>Refrain from using the "Brim" option as it places additional waste on points where it does not provide additional adhesion strength.</blockquote><h3>Connector</h3> <p>This is the <em>connector</em> piece to hold two base elements together by being placed in the sockets where you want to make the connection. The model itself is made with some tolerance in mind so that inserting it into one Base Element it will fit loosely and when connecting two it will pull itself snug so that it makes a strong connection.</p> <h4>Preparing The Model</h4> <p>This model is fairly small, no special settings need to be used to print this part correctly. If you experience any issues with bed adhestion, a brim can be used to alleviate the issue.</p> <h3>Blocks</h3> <p>This is where your imagination and needs come into play. There are several <em>theme</em> sets that are provided.</p> <h4>Themes</h4> <ul> <li>Office</li> <li>Miniatures</li> <li>Casual</li> <li>Tinkerer (WIP)</li> <li>Oddity (WIP)</li> </ul> <h4>Preparing The Model</h4> <p>These models can all be printed without any brims but it is highly advised to use these to prevent warping.</p> <h3>Colour Schemes</h3> <p>Stylish, neon, pure black or white... maybe rainbow? Go wild!</p> <blockquote>I myself used Prusa Orange and Black PLA to create mine as this perfectly fits my gaming setup.</blockquote><p>Found a cool colour scheme? Don't hesitate to drop me a picture!</p> <h3>How To Use</h3> <h4>Assembly</h4> <p>Place the selected block(s) you want to use onto the base by aligning the male connectors with the holes and pressing both items together. It should fit snuggly, do not worry about it making sounds while pressing as it is designed to be a press fit.</p> <p>Take a connector if you want to make a connection between two bases, place it in the hole on the bottom of the base and place it on a flat surface. Place the second base on the open end of the connector and press the base down so that both bases are level with the surface.</p> <p>You now have a simple assembled MDO.</p> <h4>Adjusting</h4> <p>In case you want to alter the MDO you can take the assembled block out of the set. There are multiple approaches to take off a block.</p> <h5>Small Blocks</h5> <p>If a block does not take up a full base, it is possible to pull off the block by hand.</p> <blockquote>Make sure to have enough space around you when attempting to take the block off, we don't want to accidentally destroy anything valuable.</blockquote><h5>Big Blocks</h5> <p>If you have a block that takes a full base or more, there is a hole on the side which has enough clearance to place a <strong>flat head screwdriver</strong> and use it as a lever to push the block off of the base.</p>
