MDD adapter for Winsinn dual gear extruder compatibility with HMG5
thingiverse
This remix incorporates essential features from the OEM extruder adapter within the HMG5 suite, specifically tailored for the Winsinn dual gear extruder. As suggested by Mediaman, printing at an infill of greater than 80% is recommended due to its direct drive design. However, I have not conducted tests for infills below this threshold. I printed it with the stepper motor spacer facing downwards and included supports for all overhangs. It's worth noting that dual gear extruders can vary in terms of base plate thickness, a fact confirmed through testing with the Winsinn brand dual extruder from Amazon. To mount the extruder onto the Printermods.com MDD gantry plate, at least 50mm M3 bolts are required. All other hardware included with the extruder functions as intended. I do not recommend retaining the tensioner for the spring, as it will exert significant pressure on the lever arm and potentially lead to skipping due to insufficient torque from the stepper motor. The bolt must be screwed in all the way to accommodate this setup. If you encounter any issues, please feel free to report them. This assembly is a tight fit, so I have included the step file for making minor modifications as needed.
