MCS Box Magazine Upgrade
thingiverse
I have a Box Magazine purchased from Modern Combat Sports, which I highly recommend as it is great and works with multiple different mag-fed magazine wells. The only thing I dislike about the MCS Box Mag is how small the box itself is, from dead empty it will take a full pod, but not one extra. Which means in a fire fight you have to be completely empty before you can dump a full pod into the box. Personally I prefer to reload during a lull in the action. This item replaces the Box itself. This box is only a bit larger in each dimension than the original. However it adds a slot on the top to let light in, and a slot on the back side so you can see how much ammo you have left inside. It is designed such that when the drops below the bottom of the slot you still have roughly 1/3 of a pod left in the box and you have enough room so that you can dump a full pod in on top of it. No need to completely run out. Also designed in are internal ramps so that all the paint gets directed into the feed cylinder. Looking at the top view, the gap beside is large enough to allow you to get the internal feed mechanism installed through the opening, but after it is installed there is not enough room for a paintball to get down between the box and the mechanism. The entire box is designed such that if you print with 6 shells in your setting the outside walls will be solid, and the front wall will be double thick as it will take most of the hits. The bottom is flat, but has a large recess to allow you to still access the manual crank knob even with gloved fingers (you will need to remove the knob to install the internals). Plus there is an extra "landing gear" that can be glued onto the bottom of the Box Mag external mechanism so that when you put the loaded paintball marker down it does not fall over (the landing gear makes up for the extra thickness on the bottom of the new box). The hinge pin is a #4 thread you can get from your local hardware store with acorn nuts on the end. The lid is held closed using double sided Velcro tape, 3/4" wide. On the top a long piece wrapped around the first two slots, fed up through the third, over the top and down the side a bit. On the side, just a small piece through the upper slots stuck to itself on the inside. This item only replaces the BOX, you still have to purchase the Box Mag from MCS.https://mcsus.com/collections/mcs-box-magazine
