The McIntosh Stone, a mounting block, is believed to have belonged to William McIntosh, chief of the Lower Creeks during the early nineteenth century and was transferred to the University of West Georgia (Carrollton, GA) in 1916. Legend has it that Chief McIntosh and his guests used the stone to mount their horses, wagons, and buggies; any student at UWG who touches it before earning a degree will reportedly fail to graduate! The stone originally stood on Chief McIntosh's Carroll County plantation, Lochau Talofau (Acorn Bluff), which can still be visited today within McIntosh Reserve Park. As of August 2017, plans have been put in motion to return the stone to its original home at Mcintosh Reserve where it will rest beside Chief McIntosh's grave site.
