The F2H Banshee, a twin-engine jet fighter created by McDonnell Aircraft from 1948 to 1961, succeeded the FH-1 Phantom. A significant upgrade over its predecessor, the Banshee featured larger and more powerful engines. The F2H-2 was an enhanced version with removable wingtip fuel tanks and eight underwing weapon stores, powered by Westinghouse turbojet engines. Of the 308 produced, it was the second production variant. Notably, four machine guns were mounted on the nose of the Banshee, which also featured an ejection seat and several system improvements over the Phantom; its cockpit was fully pressurized and air-conditioned.
