McDonnell F2H-2 Banshee Developed from the Phantom by McDonnel, the Banshee was a long-range escort fighter designed to provide air support for naval operations. The F2H entered service with the US Navy and Marine Corps in 1948, marking the beginning of its illustrious career. The aircraft remained in service until 1961, when it was finally retired from active duty. Canada acquired used Banshees from the United States in 1955, incorporating them into their interceptor fleet. They operated these aircraft until 1962, using them to protect Canadian airspace. During the Korean conflict, the F2H-2 variant played a significant role as a fighter-bomber. Although it was not suited for dogfighting against swept-wing Russian jets in MiG Alley, it still proved to be an effective platform for ground attacks. The model depicted is the F2H-2 variant, which was widely used during the Korean conflict. It features both wingtip tanks and variants without them, allowing builders to choose their preferred configuration. The 1:100 scale model is printed at a high level of detail, using a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.08 mm layers. The print process yields two separate halves that can be assembled as shown in the accompanying image. Minor changes were made to the design on September 19, 2019, further refining the model's accuracy and realism.
