The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a tandem two-seat, twin-engine aircraft designed for the United States Navy by McDonnell Aircraft in 1960. It was used by the U.S. in reconnaissance and Wild Weasel roles during the 1991 Gulf War before its retirement in 1996. The F-4 Phantom II also served both U.S. flight demonstration teams, the USAF Thunderbirds (F-4E) and the US Navy Blue Angels (F-4J). Operated by the armed forces of 11 other nations, over 5000 F-4s were built.
