The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is a high-performance, all-weather tactical fighter designed by Boeing's precursor company, McDonnell Douglas. The US Air Force chose this design over others in 1967 after thorough evaluations, opting for a dedicated air superiority fighter that could tackle any enemy aircraft in its path. The first test flight of the F-15 took place in July 1972 and it entered regular service three years later in 1976, delivering results with an impressive number of victories without suffering a single loss in aerial combat, primarily through the Israeli Air Force's skilled pilots. This legendary fighter jet has been supplied to several countries worldwide including Israel, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. Originally intended as a pure air-superiority machine, it also boasts secondary ground-attack capabilities that remained largely unutilized due to its exceptional design which easily adapts to multiple scenarios. Building on this flexibility, an all-weather strike derivative of the F-15, known as the F-15E Strike Eagle was developed with improvements in both its form and function, allowing for increased precision during ground operations.
