Introducing a 20mm beam with a difference, this design allows for a maximum beam length of approximately 220mm diagonally, surpassing the limitations of vertical printing. The horizontal printing eliminates the need for support material that's difficult to remove. To achieve print-without-support, the beam is split in the middle and features an easy slide mechanism for connection. With this design, users may consider constructing a MendelMax with PLA/ABS beams instead of aluminum ones. Additionally, the SCAD file includes a beam connector for extending the length (unlimited). Print with 30-50% infill for stability and ensure proper printer calibration for optimal bridging. Sliced using Slic3r, this print has an estimated material cost of PLA at 1:50 Euros.
