Story: Aeolus 2 (1993-2008) was a 3-megawatt prototype wind power plant built in the Jade Wind Park in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. They were 92 meters high and were made of reinforced concrete. A bearing loss of the main rotor and thus an uneconomic repair led to the implosion of the wind turbine on February 13, 2008. At the site of the Aeolus 2 power plant, an Enercon E-70 wind turbine was built with an output of 2.3 megawatts.
