Mazda Miata Daisy Wheel Centercap - OEM Design
thingiverse
I was bored one evening and I decided to 3d model my Miata's Daisy wheel centercap since I was missing two and only had one in decent condition. Follows the similar shape based on my calculations and uses the same mounting solution with reinforced and widened clips and even has MAZDA embossed in the middle. Where the design/project stands today is a 4th revision of the model and a working centercap with some limitations. I worked and tested the design for about a month before I replaced the wheels for an aftermarket set. Current issues are that with enough wheel flex and heat, the centercaps would pop out randomly. The last set I printed had lasted about 2 weeks on the car with no issues when printed in PLA. I would highly suggest a more robust material choice such as ABS or PETG or possibly PLA+ . I also printed the part with the mazda side up to have a great surface even though it requires lots of support material to have the clean print. I have attached the latest STL v4 to this along with a .prt file that was created in SIEMENS NX 11. Feedback would be greatly appreciated so I can continue to make changes to the model. Please post makes and photos :)
