This insert for the central console of a Mazda3 first generation (BK) lets you hold smaller cups securely. The standard cup holder isn't suitable for anything except cups because its sides open up to the interior when closed, allowing small items to slip into the mechanism near the handbrake. This can be hazardous. Using this insert or spacer makes it safe to store coins, tokens, keys, and other small objects in the cup holder without worrying about them slipping away. The stable base of the insert gives it a large footprint, so it can only fit from one side. To install this insert, you need to remove the cup holder mechanism from the center console, which takes just a minute. Then, place the insert's hole into the center notch between the two cup holes and twist it until it clicks into position.
