Maytag washing machine timer gear
thingiverse
Have an older Maytag washing machine and its metal kind of clock motor dial stops spinning? The main pinion gear is probably worn out. For some reason, they made the main gears out of materials that dissolved over time. Here's a replacement solution. I've reinforced the dogs as they tend to shear off easily. This model might not print accurately on an FDM filament printer. My prototype was done using an epoxy/UV system and it works flawlessly! I considered having it printed in brass, but I think it's unnecessary. The small load on this pinion gear means the epoxy version should last for years without any issues. Old washing machines like Maytag are tanks that can run indefinitely if you find a few replacement parts. New plastic machines break down after about five years. Finding the right clock motors is tough, but often it's not the motor itself, just the worn-out main gear. Print and enjoy this solution!
