Maypole Deluxe Towing Mirror Clamp Foot
thingiverse
I designed this part as a replacement 'foot' for my Maypole Towing Mirrors. The clamping arrangement on these mirrors is quite flimsy and once they've been used a couple of times, the 'feet' tend to fall off when trying to fit them to my car. Just in case I lose one (or more) while away camping I decided to print a few spares that have a proper ball joint socket. These print fine on my Ender 3 but you will need to calibrate your line width using the 'flow' setting (I use Cura as my slicer) and adjust your horizontal expansion so that the part fits the ball on the mirror clamp without being too lose as to fall off but not too tight as to be hard to push into place. With my stock Ender 3, my flow is set to 93% (which seems to be what everyone else finds) and horizontal expansion set to -0.1mm (I usually have this set to -0.15 but found it was just slightly too loose). I'm using a 0.12mm layer height with 99% infil to get a nice smooth curve in the socket, using the default Cura Ender 3 'Super Quality' settings with the above adjusted to suit. The print well in PLA but should probably use PETG or ABS in case of a hot summers day, especially if using dark coloured filament or have a dark coloured car as they get hotter in sunlight!
