Mayan Skull
thingiverse
I downloaded the original scan file from http://www.123dapp.com/catch/mayan-skull/4946520 and got to work cleaning up the file by sculpting a solid base for it. The resulting model was still massive with an overwhelming number of triangles, which left me feeling uneasy about deleting too many or I'd lose all the intricate details that made the design so compelling. As a newcomer to 3D printing, I was hesitant to experiment and risk compromising the final product's accuracy. After printing the skull in PLA, I carefully sanded down what I could, applied a coat of primer, and finished it off with a vibrant paint job. The end result exceeded my expectations :)\nPrint Settings\nPrinter: \n New Matter Mod-t\n \n Rafts: \n No\n \n Supports: \n Yes\n \n Resolution: \n .1\n \n Infill: \n 15%\n \n Notes: \n Printing with less infill is definitely an option, but I opted for a higher density to give the skull a sense of heft and presence.
