"Maximum style" roof vent for enclosures

This is a convection based "roof vent" based on the "Maximum" brand style. I used it to ensure the sand would dry in the sandbox even though the cover is on. I suppose it can be used on any horizontal roof of enclosed spaces. To put on a sloped roof (classic dog house for example) it would need a custom adapter. It is made for a hole diameter of 54 mm (~2 1/8 in.) and comes with a nut. Should you want to prevent insects getting in through, you can a glue a patch of window screen on the underside of the nut. The nut is not necessary for fixation if you use caulking, but it does add some strength to the assembly.
