MaxGrass is a MaxScript that empowers you to create incredibly realistic grass and vegetation in Autodesk's 3ds Max with just one click. The script seamlessly animates the growth of grass/vegetation, resulting in a completely natural appearance. No additional plugins are required; instead, it utilizes real geometry to give you complete control over each blade or leaf. This makes it ideal for close-up shots where precision is crucial. An array of parameters has been provided to yield an infinite variety of results. MaxGrass caters to both beginners and advanced users of 3ds Max. For a beginner, starting off is as simple as clicking one button, while advanced users can customize many aspects of the grass/vegetation, including using custom models as seeds, grounds, distribution/height/color maps, animation parameters, materials, and much more. The current version, 2.0.0, boasts an impressive array of features: Single-click Grass creation Static and growth-animated grass/vegetation In addition to grass, MaxGrass can also create and animate various other types of vegetation. It allows for the natural bending of blades as they grow in bunches. A live preview of the blade and a bunch is displayed as you adjust the parameters. A built-in seed model is highly customizable using 11 parameters. Properties such as bunching, bending of blades, quantity are supported using 6 parameters. Animation timing and bend variations can be customized using 7 different parameters. Custom models can be used both as seeds and grounds. Animated seed models are fully supported. Distribution maps, height maps, and color maps can be employed to control growth and appearance. Face selection-based and angle-based distribution methods are available. Built-in presets simplify the process of achieving desired results. Seven built-in materials come pre-loaded, but custom materials can also be used. You have the ability to save and load user presets. In addition, you can assign or change built-in materials at any time. The script provides an estimate of the final poly count and issues a warning when very high counts are detected. MaxGrass supports Autodesk 3ds Max versions from 2014 to 2018.
