Max Thrust Riot / ArtTech Devil Battery Hatch Cover
thingiverse
This is a replacement battery hatch / cover for the Max Thrust Riot or the ArtTech Devil RC model aircraft. The original hatch is curved to match the profile of the fuselage, but in order to make it simpler to print and to limit the amount of support material required I designed this replacement with a flat bottom. This also presents the opportunity for larger batteries to be accommodated. I have uploaded several variants. The file names indicate the overall depth (d), wall thickness (w) and the depth of internal ribs (r). Battery_Cover_d6.0_w1.3_r4.7.stl This is basically a replacement for the original hatch and will not provide any scope for installing bigger batteries. Battery_Cover_d6.0_w1.3_r0.0.stl This is a hatch with the internal ribs removed providing an extra 4.7mm of room for a larger battery to be accomodated. Removing the ribs obviously means that this model is not as strong, but my print seems strong enough for normal flight, and I find that the hinges break first in a heavy landing. I would, however, suggest that you use a velcro strap to secure your battery. Battery_Cover_d10.0_w1.3_r2.7.stl This is a deeper hatch that allows for an extra 6mm of clearance in the battery bay. Battery_Cover_d16.0_w1.3_r4.7.stl This hatch is 16mm deep and provides an extra 10mm of space to install a bigger battery. Battery_Clip.stl You will need to print two clips for each hatch. The clips slide into the slots in hatch and lock into position, but you will also need to glue them securely into place. Riot_Battery_Cover.f3d In case none of the above options is suitable I have uploaded the fusion 360 file for this model. It can easily be modified by changing the parameters of the model. You can access the parameters by pressing ctrl-p once you have loaded the model into fusion 360. I suggest that you only modify the values in the "favorites" section. Disclaimer I made this design for my own purposes. The strength of any 3d printed part will always be dependant on the material used and the quality of the print. It is your responsibility to determine if a part is suitable for the use that you put it to. I can take no responsibility for any consequences of the use, or inability to use, prints produced from these designs. Do not attempt to fly any model aircraft unless you are certain that it is safe.
