Max's Strider 12 Pro - Chain Stay Covers
cults3d
Hello, and thanks for checking out my project!\n\nI bought my daughter a Strider Balance bike (Strider 12 Pro), but after her first ride, she couldn't continue riding because her legs were extremely sore. I wondered why this was happening and took a closer look to find that her legs had been badly scraped by the strip of poorly placed skateboard tape on top of the chain stays. On top of that, I realized there's nothing to protect the paint (Steel) from scratches when dropped, and the blunt of numerous falls is meant to be taken by the chain stays which will then quickly rust... \nI was annoyed by this, so I contacted Strider to ask if this was bad engineering or just a production mistake. The reply I got was unhelpful at best, first claiming that I had set the seat height wrong and that my daughter had poor positioning. When I asked if they offered covers for this, I was told that they'd rather not offer "Cosmetic upgrades" like that to keep costs low... yet on their website you can purchase a silly CAPE for kids to wear... I'm shaking my head.\n\nSo after some measuring and tinkering in Fusion 360, I came up with these covers.\nI tried printing them in PLA and Flex (too flexible flex didn't work out! but the stiffer version was fine). I ended up using the PLA after giving it a couple of coats of spray paint. They work GREAT! Not only do they protect my girl from scratching her little legs, but they'll also protect the paint from all those falls :)\n\nI printed these with no supports whatsoever, just .2 layer height and Go! :D\n\nShare your prints!
