Mavic Pro/Platinum Float Kit by Mike Flys
thingiverse
This is a bracket kit designed to attach 4 inch (99mm) Smooth Styrofoam balls to a Mavic Pro/Platinum, enabling the drone to take off and land on water. The retention band must be printed in Ninja Flex, as other TPUs I've tried lack elasticity. The rest of the parts should be printed in PETG or PLA; PETG is less likely to warp if left in a car or exposed to direct sunlight. In addition to the downloadable parts, I have included pdfs of instruction sheets and printing recommendations. I developed this Mavic Pro float kit through extensive trial and error, flight testing, and redesign over several months in 2017 for my friends and me. Our goal was to create a system that would allow us to land and take off from water while flying smoothly and without obstructing the camera's view. After experimenting with various designs, I compiled a video showcasing our flights, which can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/vjnp_IGKYAM. The video sparked interest worldwide, and people from all over reached out to me requesting a kit. Since then, I have printed and shipped hundreds of these kits globally. Now that I've developed a Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom drone kit, I've decided to share the Mavic Pro kit on Thingiverse, where it was always intended to be shared. I hope you enjoy using this kit.
