Mavic Pro Glare Shield
thingiverse
This shield is designed specifically for the DJI Mavic Pro camera, providing protection from sun glare while taking pictures or videos. It also helps to reduce wind-caused shaking in the gimbal and acts as a shock absorber during small crashes. The design allows for partial tilt of the camera without interference. Unlike other shields on the market, this one draws inspiration from the sun shield by LeenanJ but was created from scratch using OpenScad with the original gimbal cover as reference. UPDATE 1/5/2017 - I have added a new version 2 of the shield that offers improved protection and better aesthetics. This update fixes minor issues noticed in the original design, such as a more centered camera view area. Version 1 is still available for those who prefer it. The OpenScad code has also been uploaded to Github, where users can contribute improvements. UPDATE 1/7/2017 - I have added version 3 of the shield with improved lower connector tab security and a YouTube video showcasing its performance during hard turns and stops. UPDATE 1/12/2017 - I have introduced version 4 of the shield, which has minor adjustments for fit and a slightly thicker dome. The goal is to maintain a thin dome for weight reduction while also providing cushioning in case of a crash. UPDATE 1/21/2017 - I have added version 5 of the shield with improvements to its fit and lower connector. Feedback from users, including @jason_lane, has led to these updates, which also require minimal support under the lower connector area. UPDATE 3/23/2017 - At the request of a user, I have created a full replacement shield with some adjustments for easier printing. The file MavicGimbalShield.stl is available on Github for users who want to try this new version. Print Settings: * Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro * Rafts: Doesn't Matter * Supports: Doesn't Matter * Resolution: .18 mm * Infill: 20% * Notes: Supports are required under the lower rear connector tab.
