Mavic Air long legs

Mavic Air long legs

thingiverse

Mavic Air owners know the deal - this thing is a beast, but if you're operating from grass, longer legs are not just optional, they're essential! These babies give 63mm more ground clearance than the stock legs, making them a must-have for any serious flyer. They're designed to be lightweight and easy to fit and remove, so you can get back in the air fast. I plan on using some rubber O-rings on the motor booms to ensure they don't fall off during flight, but are still easy to install and remove. The ideal size is 1.6mm thick by 19mm outside diameter - just make sure they're not too close to the spinning case! When the legs are removed, the rings can stay on the booms, so just move them out of the way when folding up the machine. Weight is key - while this thing is powerful and can lift a surprising amount, adding any weight will reduce flight duration. My Mavic Air weighs 436g before adding the legs (measured with my trusty kitchen scales). I used transparent PLA during the design process, which made it easy to see how well the cups were fitting. Once I finalize the design, I might switch to a different color. Check out the printing instructions below - they're still evolving, so keep an eye on this space for updates. The STL files are currently at version 1.0, but don't worry if you download them early - just be sure to check back here for any changes. Disclaimer: I'm sharing this design freely with good intentions and no cost attached. Use it entirely at your own risk - there's no warranty of any kind. Please make sure it meets all your needs before flying, or you'll be on the hook if something goes wrong!
