Matt's minimalistic j-head mount (v7)
thingiverse
Introducing my version of the Bowden X carriage and J-head mount for Prusa Mendel, based on the openscad file found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:45883. The key updates include separating the bowden tube mount and j-head mount from the carriage, moving the hotend 3.5cm higher, and adding clamps to hold bearings tightly. To assemble, print the parts with support and clean up. Attach the carriage on two linear bearings and clamp them with screws. Drill a hole for the bowden tube in the top plate and assemble the part using 4x M3-25mm screws with washers/nuts on the bottom. Slide the side plates into the hotend holder, attach the carriage parts to bearings, mount 40mm fans on the sides, and add belt clamps. The extruder mount is from thing: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:25683. Calibrate the bed (z-axis) for optimal performance. Suggestions for v7 include moving the belt to the side bottom (idea from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:22887).
