Matryoshka dolls, also known as Russian nesting dolls or stacking dolls, are sets of wooden figurines, each smaller than the last, placed one inside another. Handcrafted from blocks into carved, polished and painted works of art, these iconic dolls originated in 1890 by Vasily Zvyozdochkin's carving and Sergey Malyutin's design. Metaphorically, the "matryoshka principle" or "nested doll principle" signifies an object-within-similar-object relationship. A 3D scanned model of a matryoshka doll has been created using photogrammetry techniques, with pictures taken by a DSLR Nikon Camera; it's available in OBJ (11mb) and GLTF (17mb) formats.
