Matrix (Hemera) Clipable Shroud
thingiverse
Part cooling fan shroud for the Trianglelab Matrix extruder. Maybe compatible with the E3D Hemera/Hermes extruder as well. - Low impact on horizontal section: 10mm thick. - Easy to clip on and off: only small attaches remain on the extruder when off. Necessary parts: - 1 x 5020 Cooling fan. - 4 x M3x5 flat headed screws for the attaches. - Some duct-tape that has some good sticky-like surface for the friction fit of the fan. Printing: - Use ABS or other temperature resistant plastic. - Have your "Horizontal Expansion" (Cura name) setting calibrated so that a X mm cylinder will fit into a X mm hole. This setting could have an other name in slicers other than Cura. A typical value for FDM printers is around -0.1mm. A more negative value will give a larger clearance. This point is important as there is very small clearance in the object dimensions. So, either try with -0.1mm or calibrate your Horizontal Expansion setting with the following: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4905876. I included the Cura profile I used for printing it in ABS on my Ender-5 printer. - Print the attaches. No support is necessary if you print them on their side. - Either print the shroud as one part. Support for the clip is necessary. - Or print it in 3 segments and glue them together if you have issues printing it in one part. - Clean the parts of any blobs. I would use a fine cutter blade for this. - Clean the attaches especially around the screw holes. - Clean the shroud clip attach especially around the tip. - Make sure the screw holes are clean. I would use a 3mm drill bit for this. - Make sure the part of the attaches touching the extruder are well flat. I would use a small file for this. Mounting: - Mount the 2 attaches on the extruder. - Clip the shroud in place (you might need to try a few times with various positions of the attaches until you get it to clip nicely). - Put one layer of duct-tape around the top (see picture). - Insert the fan. - Plug the fan. Cheers :) EDIT: After testing on my custom printer, I can tell that this design is not optimal for high speed PLA printing. This is because it only cools fine on the right side of the head :/ .Therefore, I will update the design for blowing on both sides...
