Material Sample Spool

Material Sample Spool

I ordered a couple of ColorFab sample kits and had to devise a way to store the material for printing, which led me to design a simple holder that can easily be printed out. The part was initially intended as a push fit but I opted to secure the arms into the hub using super glue instead. As the spool in question is rather light in weight, there's a possibility that the filament could cause it to spin wildly and unwind at some point, which I mitigated by pushing some kitchen paper into the hub. This effectively increases the friction between the hub and its mount, bringing the unwieldy spinning under control. In retrospect, one alteration I'd make is to glue only three of the arms in place. By leaving one arm free, I could remove it with ease once the spool is emptied of its filament, allowing for a more convenient storage and maintenance process.
