It's mostly composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). In geology, marble has a more specific meaning than in commerce. Its importance in building is undeniable, used both as rough stone and polished slabs. Essential minerals: Calcite Non-essential minerals: Graphite, Pyrite, Ilmenite can sometimes be present.
