It takes 7 moves to unlock, but after mastering the first few, the solution becomes crystal clear. This is a perfect introduction to puzzle boxes. Born from snippets of internet data, this puzzle was inspired by a YouTube video that mentioned its type. The person in the video had created a version based on Bruce Vinley's design (homemadepuzzles.co.uk), but the plans were for wood and lacked clarity on sizing and functionality. If you're interested in learning CAD program skills, check out the "Free Plans" section on his site. Assembly can be completed after gluing, or you might play with it before applying glue to see how the pieces move. The two identical panels are labeled right and left for clarity. The longer tail of the Bottom panel is the part that sticks out as you insert the panels. The inner box measures 40mm x 20mm x 15mm, while the exterior is 80mm x 40mm x 50mm. Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: Mini Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: .3mm layer height Infill: 20% Notes: The tolerances are rather tight. To achieve accurate measurements in the gaps, I printed the top/bottom/right/left upright. My final product required no sanding; only accurate removal of supports was necessary. Post-Printing Only apply glue to Side1 and Side2. Leave a few panels intact to match up Side1 and Side2, then clamp it together before removing the panels. This prevents the panels from getting glued to either side. Custom Section Tweaks for improvement: If you're looking for ways to enhance this puzzle, consider modifying the rails to hold the sides in place when the top/bottom/right/left are inserted. Alternatively, extend the inner box into the other side to create a groove for a seamless fit.
