Matau (fish hook)
thingiverse
The matau, an efficient fish hook design, was widely reproduced due to its efficiency. Created as part of the art project series "Ghosts in the form of gifts," commissioned by Massey University Wellington, New Zealand in 2009, it is now available under a Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license for educational re-use. The project won the 2010 Award for Open Source in the Arts (NZ). The series comprises replicas of artifacts imagined as lost or misregistered during the Museum of New Zealand's tenure in Buckle St, now occupied by Massey University's College of Creative Arts. The objects are created through drawing, digital 3D rendering, and printing with a RepRap. Bronwyn Holloway-Smith and Vik Olliver are credited for the series, which can be searched using the tag "Ghosts in the form of gifts."
