The matau, a design of fish hook known for its efficiency, led to numerous reproductions worldwide. Developed in 2009 as part of the "Ghosts in the form of gifts" series by Massey University Wellington, New Zealand. "Ghosts in the form of gifts" is a collection of replicas imagining artifacts lost, hidden or misregistered during the Museum of New Zealand's tenure in the former Museum Building on Buckle St. The objects were created using drawing, digital 3D rendering, and printing with RepRap.
