Negro Matapacos was a Chilean canine sensation who catapulted to fame due to his brazen participation in Santiago de Chile's street protests throughout the 2010s. His distinctive features included his sleek black coat and the crimson scarf cleverly draped around his neck. When protests erupted in Chile in 2019, Negro Matapacos once again captured the nation's attention with his fearless attitude during street demonstrations, gracing various posters, stickers, murals, and papier-mâché sculptures. His popularity was so immense that citizens petitioned for a statue of this iconic dog to be erected. As mass fare evasion swept through New York City's subway system on November 1 of the same year, stickers bearing Negro Matapacos' image began appearing in subway stations, depicting him effortlessly leaping over turnstiles.
