This mastodon vertebra was meticulously scanned in 3D with a NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner at the Valley of the Mastodons workshop and conference held at the Western Science Center (http://www.westerncentermuseum.org/) in August 2017. Expert digital post-processing techniques were employed to remove the color from the original 3D scan, effectively creating a water-tight model suitable for 3D printing. The vertebra is proudly showcased as part of the Valley of the Mastodons exhibit, generously provided by the Western Science Center.
