sketchfab
This Mammut americanum mandible was carefully scanned in 3D using a Go!Scan50 scanner on December 10, 2018 at the Academy of Natural Sciences located in Philadelphia. Repository specimen number ANSP 13102 documents its presence. It was unearthed from Big Bone Lick, Kentucky by William Clark back in 1807 for Thomas Jefferson's collection. Initially classified as the holotype of a new species, Mammut jeffersonii. The Academy of Natural Sciences kindly granted permission for this scanning effort. A research trip supported by a Virginia Commonwealth University Seed Grant made it all possible.
