This may be the solution for KiwiFil and other brands using cardboard spools! --- Spool rims --- Cardboard spools are great in many ways, but they might not work well on roller-style spool holders that support the filament weight on the outside spool edge, such as the Bambu AMS. If you have this type of spool holder, you may want to print some "spool rims" to protect the edge of the cardboard from bending or fraying. --- Spool centres --- If your spool holder uses the centre hole, the friction between the holder and the cardboard might cause damage to the spool or unnecessary tension on the filament. 3D printed "spool centres" will reduce the friction. --- Cardboard Companion --- Want to make your cardboard spool as rugged as a regular plastic spool? The KiwiFil Cardboard Companion is the solution. It completely encloses the cardboard spool within the masterspool, and makes it roll beautifully on roller-style spool holders as well as centre hole spool holders. It also protects the cardboard from wear and tear, and abuse from students, kids, colleagues, or whoever is handling your spools. With the “extender” the cardboard companion can also be used for the KiwiFil 2 kg spools.
