all credit for the idea goes to RichRap and his MasterSpool
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2769823
https://richrap.blogspot.de/2018/01/masterspool-proposed-standard-for-3d.html

I really like the idea of saving shipping and prodution cost, and DasFilament is my main filament supplier

Therefore I needed a masterspool to test the refills on my next filament order

based my design on RichRaps MasterSpool dimensions and modeled my version from scratch in fusion360

this remix was aimed to have a design more pleasing to my eyes ;D

another goal was to save some filament, I designed the side wall thickness to 1,6 mm and tried to be as light as possible overall

printed this using 160g of PETG filament (120g part1, 40g part 2)

additionally, I wanted to try to use modeled and printed threads for the first time, they came out perfect for me

I based this on RichRaps version V2, added some holes around the outer diameter and some radial holes on the base cylinder to get the filament hooked in. Also changed the outer diameter to 198mm to fit on my printer

I use filament clips, so the outer holes will not be used often (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:12516)

model units are [mm]

I hope you like my hexagonal approach :D

print came out great and is definetely strong and sturdy enough
EDIT 2018-04-23

added .stp and fusion360 file

Print instructions

Category: 3D Printer Accessories Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: [Prusa Mk2]

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.2

Infill: low

Notes:

3 top and 3 bottom layers

2 perimeters

printed in DasFilament PETG
