MasterSpool Redesign
thingiverse
This is my take on the Masterspool-project from Richard Horne (RichRap). His concept centered around filament manufacturers not including spool holders with their filaments, but instead attaching cable ties to them. These spools can then be inserted into a "MasterSpool" that can be screwed apart. After inserting the filament into the first half of the MasterSpool, the second half can be screwed on. The advantages of my version of the Masterspool are reduced material and print time requirements. To lower the print time even further, you can cut the sideplates out of wood using a lasercutter, CNC router, or jigsaw. After printing and cutting the parts, they can be assembled with M3 bolts and nuts. P.S. My native language is German, so I appreciate any corrections to grammatical errors. UPDATE 18 February 2018: Version 2 is now available. You can print the middle parts and use old sideplates, but new sideplates allow you to remove filaments using cable ties. Version 1 and Version 2 are not compatible with each other. UPDATE 16 February 2018: A new version of the spoolholder is in development and will be released on 18 February 2018.
