Mason Jar Wasp Trap
thingiverse
I saw several similar designs for flies online, but our challenge here is wasps. I also modified the design to accommodate a string that could be hung from a tree. EDIT: I added Version 2 after discovering that Version 1 worked, but wasn't as smooth and was a bit too tight on the jar. Recently learning how to do threads allowed me to recreate the entire design around the threads that performed well on the jar. As a result, Version 2 is a complete rebuild from scratch, with a much better fit. EDIT again: I created Version 3 after deciding that the cone in Version 2 was too thick. In response, I narrowed it down in Version 3, which resulted in a 3.5-meter reduction in filament usage and almost an hour less print time at 100% fill. And once more: I couldn't resist making adjustments, which led to Version 4. This new version features little handles on the outside instead of holes in previous versions, which would allow liquid to leak out through threads if tipped over. Although it's not guaranteed to be leakproof, this design should perform significantly better than its predecessors.
