Mason Jar Sprouting Insert

Originally uploaded on June 2nd, 2013 was the default STL file to cater to users who are unaware of how the Customizer works. The purpose of this design was to create a screen that fits within the ring of a mason jar for sprouting beans or seeds. This allows water to be introduced and drained while ensuring proper ventilation of air inside the jar. To learn about DIY sprouting, soak the seeds overnight in a bowl filled with water. The following morning, drain the water and rinse the seeds using fresh water once or twice. Place the seeds in a sprouting bag or jar, making sure that it remains humid but not completely dry. To maintain cleanliness and prevent mold growth, rinse the sprouts with fresh water every morning and night. Continue this process until you achieve your desired length or age for the sprouts. By default, this design is tailored for Mung or Mungo beans. However, the size of the mesh opening may need to be adjusted for different bean or seed sizes. For instance, Alfalfa seeds might pass through the screen. Some adjustments may also be necessary for the width of screening elements to ensure successful printing on your printer. Good results were achieved using ABS with 1.5mm and a 0.40mm nozzle, with 0.30mm layer height. Please share if you find alternative uses for this parametric design. Happy sprouting!
