Mason Jar Handle
thingiverse
A handle designed specifically for regular mouth mason jars, created as part of a gift to be used with hot chocolate sent in jars made from ABS plastic for safe use with warm/hot liquids or the handle will soften when exposed to heat. This handle is meant to be mounted from the top, as shown in the pictures. The clip-on feature keeps the handle below where your mouth meets the jar and short handles are designed for fast printing of many of these. If you have any requests for improving this design, please let me know. Print Settings: Printer Brand: FlashForge Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 25% Notes: ABS must be used for hot drinks because PLA softens and comes off when on a warm/hot jar that is filled, due to the glass transition temperature of PLA being too low for use with warm liquids. Repeated removal of the handle will start wearing off strands if printed coarsely (0.3mm) with weakly bonded ABS, so better resolution and appropriate print temperature for good layer bonding will minimize wear. As a reminder, ABS is not rated as food safe, so it's recommended to not send it through the dishwasher. Printing upside down works well without a raft, and with a bit of support between the top of the handle and the platform. Post-Printing: Minimal cleanup required. The minimal support under the handle should come off readily with finger motion. How I Designed This Some iterations shown here were done using Fusion 360 for all the wins.
