Masking Plug Cleaning System
grabcad
Another old project from my student days. Project was carried out for company caterpillar who needed a new system for cleaning the masking plugs used in their painting process. The system i designed involved a series of rollers that crack the paint (which dries quite hard) whilst the manifold above sprays the plugs to clean away the flaked paint. The paint that is removed from the plugs is then caught in the mesh tray beneath which has to be emptied when full. Due to there being a variety of different sized plugs used in their painting process the height of the rollers had to be adjustable, in this design there is 3 levels the top rollers can be set to in order to fit the larger plugs. This project culminated in making a 1/2 scale model out of perspex to show the internals of the system but the model was never built to actually work (i have pictures of the finished model somewhere which i will upload if i can find them) Whether the actual system was ever made i dont know to be honest but it was an interesting project i thought i would share
