UPDATE 1: 06/18/2020 ------------------------------- Added an improved locking ring that features a built-in spot for attaching a filter. Also included a locking ring cap that can be used as a replacement for the original locking ring or as a cap for the filtered locking ring. ------------------------------- I created this exhaust vent design to solve a common problem: sweaty faces and foggy glasses when wearing masks. To use it, simply cut a 25mm hole in your fabric mask, thread the vent through, and tighten the locking ring securely to the fabric. If needed, trim the hole slightly to ensure a snug fit around the barrel. This design is inspired by the exhaust vents used in U.S. military Avon M50 gas masks. The TPU valve seal (rubber disc) fits tightly on the center peg but will stretch if you're patient. This is intentional, ensuring a secure seal when in use. I printed the vent body in PLA at 200 degrees with a 40-degree bed temperature. While PETG would have been a better choice, my wife requested black prints, and I only had PLA available in that color. The TPU disc was printed using Priline black TPU at 220 degrees with a 70-degree bed temperature. I used SP415-M-8 (soda bottle) threads for this design because they seem sturdier than standard threads and are designed specifically for PET bottles. If you have any suggestions or comments, I'm open to feedback!
