Mask of a Lion
myminifactory
Pierre d'Assézat, who amassed a fortune from pastel trading, commissioned an enormous townhouse in 1555 whose facades were directly inspired by Sebastiano Selio's architectural treatises. In line with traditional classical models like Nimes' square house, lion muzzles are strategically positioned on the upper cornices as if to expertly channel rainwater off the roof, creating a powerful roar.
