Human: There's been an enormous response from my makers designing and 3D printing various tools to help everyone cope with these challenging times. One such effort has been the creation of numerous devices to alleviate the stress caused by mask straps on the ears of those who must wear masks continuously. This harness is designed to address some of the issues that many of these mask strap devices have, including limited adjustability, inadequate support above and below the ear, and discomfort. The Mask Ear Strap Relief Harness (MESRH, pronounced like "measure") was created to address the problems I encountered with existing mask strap relief tools. After providing various designs to my family and friends working in the medical field and gathering their feedback, we determined that a new design was necessary. If you're interested in trying this out, you'll need to assemble two MESRH models and some MESRH_Straps. The v1 and v2 MESRH models come with right and left variants, but the v3 and v4 are symmetrical, allowing for use on both sides. The straps required will depend on the size of your head, so I've included various versions of the designs and strap lengths. For me, two MESRH_Strap_16 connected by a MESRH_Link work well when going over the top of my head, while a MESRH_Strap_22 is used around the back. I've included different lengths in case your printer's build plate is too small for these lengths or if you need slightly longer straps. The straps are also notched to make it easy to shorten them as needed. I've found that assembling the harness with the strap tabs facing inward, next to your head, instead of outward, like in the pictures, helps keep it together better. I'd love to hear how this works for you and if there are any improvements that can be made!
